Drug De-addiction Department

A short-term inpatient program, requiring admission for 4 to 5 weeks, focuses on medical stabilization, abstinence, and lifestyle changes to improve self esteem. The emphasis is on rapid psychological assessment, individualized treatment planning, and the use of both medical and psychological strategies for long term maintenance of a drug free or sober life.

It offers a comprehensive in-patient treatment program. It includes the involvement of the family of the addict also. Treatment utilizes a multi-disciplinary approach with the help of a Psychiatrist, Physicians, Pathologist, Physiotherapist, Psychologists, Rehabilitation Psychologist, Counselors, Psychiatric social workers, Occupational therapist and Psychiatric Nurs.

The treatment program includes

  • Detoxification.
  • Intensive psychological therapy along with re-educative group therapy.
  • Follow-up.

Chronic health problems associated with addiction and withdrawal symptoms due to sudden stoppage of Alcohol or drug usage are dealt with during detoxification. Detoxification is for a period of 5 to 7 days.

After detoxification, the patient undergoes an intensive 5-6 week therapeutic program. It comprises individual counseling, lectures, groups and family therapy, and relaxation techniques. Individual care and attention is given to each patient during therapy.

Follow – up is an important aspect of treatment at the hospital. It includes medical checkup, counseling sessions and relapse prevention program. This is maintained for a period of two years.

Treatment

The emphasis is on rapid assessment, individualized treatment planning, and the use of both medical and psychological strategies for long term maintenance of a drug free or sober life.

Outpatient services include individual counseling, group counseling, medication evaluation, medication management, and intensive outpatient therapy for both psychiatric and addiction problems.

Problems treated at the center

The usual range of problems treated at the center, include persons who have developed problems with alcohol, cannabis, opium like drugs (heroin, codeine containing cough syrups, pain medicines), sedative medications (like alprazolam, nitrazepam etc.) and inhalants (typewriter erasing fluid, synthetic glues, paint thinner etc.). A large proportion of the people treated have in addition, co-occurring emotional and behavioral disorders.

Inpatient Facilities

The treating doctor at De-addiction Clinic may advise admission if necessary. There are 20 available beds in the De-addiction Centre, comprising 30 general ward beds the charges are Rs. 1500/- per day. 2x2 Privet AC Cabin also available. The charge for the cabin with the single bed AC, Rs. 2600/- per day. And non A/C, Rs. 2000/-

The cabin rent for three weeks is to be paid in advance. In case of shorter stays, outstanding amounts will be refunded at time of discharge.All type of Medical test and medicine charges will be charged separately.

The double bed wards accommodate one patient and one relative . They have attached toilets. Cooking is not allowed in the cabins.

Consent

Admissions for in-patient treatment are only made consequent to obtaining a signed informed consent for admission and treatment from the patient or a responsible relative, in case of minors. No requests for forcible admissions without the patients consent are entertained.

Important Note

Since the admission is voluntary, we assume that the patient is sincere in his/her desire to abstain from substances of abuse. Consequently, patients using or attempting to smuggle in such substances will be reluctantly, discharged. This of course will not reflect in our desire to help the patient continue further attempts to attain sobriety, either on an outpatient basis or on subsequent admission.

Random breath and urine testing

Patients will be subjected to random breath and urine testing for alcohol or other substances in the ward. This is not necessarily based on suspicion, but as a routine procedure.

Group Therapy

This is a very important part of the CIIDDA's therapeutic model. During first week our friend are just recovering from withdrawals/homesickness/some of them are in denial/coping problem/varying financial, education, different living style that is why four weeks program is designed keeping in the view of emotional, cognitive and awareness level of our client.

  • 1st weeks topics are more focused on Information and Motivation.
  • 2nd week A.A Meeting and alarm sign.
  • 3rd week focuses on emotional problems and stress management.
  • 4th week Behavioral and Cognitive skills to stay sober.
  • 5th week challenge test.
